03/11/06 - Though I still don't have a job, almost six months on from returning from Malaysia, fortunately I'm managing to get work and money, and still hold on to my Job Seeker's Allowance (which can be done if I work less than 16 hours). Last week I was working in a call centre, and this week I was working as a kitchen porter, washing and drying dishes back at Wye College (where I did the waiter job). And now I've got myself another two weeks of call centre work (and I know the first week is only 16 hours, so I still get JSA). But despite the little work I've had over this time, I haven't found myself struggling with money. But though my accounts have stayed steady, I really need to be making money, rather than just living off it. Eswaren and Ebbie made it into my dreams this week, along with Chino again. Looking back at my Malaysia Blog, it was this time last year that I properly first met Durga, who wanted a cuddle with me after a rather stressful Sunday School lesson. I think I miss hugs from the kids more than anything, I've gone a whole six months without a cuddle! It's Pastor Paul's birthday on Sunday, must remember to wish him Happy Birthday... Also this week last year, I bought my new digicam, which hasn't been put to much use lately, but along with a new photo album from my TEFL weekend, there's also a collection of some rather passive looking Halloween decorations my father made on the Photography site... Enjoy... 10/11/06 - Why is it that all the things that I wanted in June have taken until November to come? Though I'm still jobless, I've been getting a good deal of work from the job agency, and spent most my week in a call centre, this time phoning residents and doing surveys, though it's not as good as a couple of weeks ago when I got to phone Asian's who ran Corner Shops. But despite that, I've finally met another Asian here, and she's also a Tamil! I met a Sri Lankan called Elizabeth (unfortunately not an exciting Tamil name), who said that she would teach me Tamil. She said that she's done language teaching, so hopefully she can teach me a bit about how to do that too. She also says she knows people in Malaysia, and I'm currently trying to find out if the people at Taman Wahyu know about the Pastor that she knows about. Nothing else from me this week, hopefully I'll be filling up most of my week with work and possibly Tamil lessons... 17/11/06 - Another quiet week this week, still working at the call centre, getting some good, much needed money into my account. I'm getting quite used to the work there now, though I don't really want to get too absorbed into the call centre. Some surveys you do are better than others, though the people you call never do, but you can't complain too much at the rate of pay you get. Only other thing this week, there's a good chance that I could be going to Malaysia in January for a few weeks. It'll be a much needed vacation, looking back over the seriously dull time I've had here. It'll be a shame that I won't get to spend Christmas there again, but January's close enough, I'll just have to make the most of my time whilst I'm there... 24/11/06 - A slightly more eventful week, this week. Today was my first day off from the call centre, after 17 straight days working there. I've had a mix of nasty and nice surveys, and nasty and nice people to talk to. I've concluded that people from County Durham are the worst people in the world to talk to on the phone. Maybe that's an exxageration, but I've had some pretty arrogant people on the other end calling that area. But I did have one quite funny call this week, asking a quite strange man what his marital status was; he kept trying to deny that there was ever going to be any kind of marriage between him and another woman I expect he's living with... OK... I certainly made the most of my day off, spending the day at Bluewater. I still don't know what size difference there is between there and some of the big malls in Kuala Lumpur. The UK doesn't really have this reputation for giant malls or shopping centres, mainly because what's in towns now has been there longer than most cities. I did see Jade Goody at TGI Friday's (which they also have in KL), which creates some irony with The Sims 2: Big Brother 5 starting today. And with the evening I went to see Motorhead in Folkestone. It was a pretty cool gig, but apparently there's now a copyright thing in regards to taking cameras to concerts etc. so my parents didn't let me take mine, though I don't see why camera phones have an exception. But I've missed some seriously good photo opportunities from that gig, which is why I was dissapointed at the end of it. Dates to going to Malaysia are still unsteady and unconfirmed. I talked to Pastor Elisha, who owns the Community Of Praise's sister church in Tamil Nadu, on MSN this week, and he's really keen for me to come visit the church and the orphanage they have there. Chino and Rachel were the main kids to be in my dreams this past week, and that was when I could sleep. I keep staying up till very late in bed just thinking about them all... But I've been having Tamil lessons from Elizabeth this week, so when I do visit Malaysia and (possibly) Tamil Nadu, I'll be much more prepared in talking to them...
