October:

05/10/07 - I finally sent off my English Teaching application form to the British Council Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll get a reply from them this month, then I can start organising my travel plans. I've been away from Malaysia for just over seven months now, I'm hoping I can get away just before the nine month mark, and visit India and Brunei before the course starts in January, then I hope to visit Sri Lanka and maybe somewhere else in South East Asia before returning some time in the spring.

Had a nice time at Palmers Green, wasn't feeling so worried about others and just enjoyed my day. It's a bit weird seeing the Tamils wear winter clothes, as (of course) you never see it on them round Asia. I also visited my Ashford Tamil friends on Saturday and Wednesday. Shanukaa doesn't seem to want to take to me any time soon, whenever she cries when with me I just instantly hand her over rather than trying to comfort her.

And lastly, I did a really stupid thing late on Monday night when I literally threw a photography project out the window. Somehow a giant green caterpillar managed to get into my room, and was crawling in the middle of my floor. I took a few photos of it, then decided to release it, but then thought it would have been a much better idea to keep it and use it as a photography project, but by then it was too late. Why am I so slow to think up good ideas?! Well, I'll just have to make the most out of what I took, which you can check out yourself on the Photography site...

12/10/07 - Well, it didn't take long for the British Council to reply to my application. I've already got a phone interview scheduled for the end of the month, which will start at 7am, so I'll have to be up early, but won't have to look my best. And if I'm accepted, I could be off back to Asia in less than six weeks! I'll have to make sure I have everything ready so I don't leave the UK worrying about anything. I haven't done much the past few weeks other than applying for this course, mainly because we've been getting a new kitchen fitted, which was finally finished today. So I'll get my peaceful mornings back to myself before work...

Sam (from the Malaysia Gap Challenge) and her friend went to India this past week, and will be spending a month with Elisha at the orphanage; they'll be only the third white visitors there. But although I'm excited to see their photos and hear their stories, I'll probably be visiting the orphanage a month after they've gone anyway. Also, Emily and Sanju are planning to get married in late December. I'd love to attend and see everyone again, but unfortunately it's happening a little too late for me...

Some weird and wonderful things at work; I found one phone with photos from a car crash, including the smashed up car, and the person's smashed up face (is a camera really something you'd think of taking to an autopsy?). This phone also included a video from Japan of a guy lifting women's skirts and pulling down their underwear (Japan's never appealed to me anyway), and I also found a phone with what looked like Thai characters on the keypad. And one more thing I've noticed listening to the radio, is 'In The Air Tonight' by Phil Collins seems to be getting played quite often. Doesn't have anything to do with a drum playing gorilla (Dairy Milk commercial) does it?

19/10/07 - Still another week and a half to go till my interview for my course. This week's been quite boring, unfortunately, I haven't talked to anyone since Sunday. I been moved and now have to sit on my own at work, so it's just trying to get through each day. Palmers Green was nice at the weekend though, getting to see and talk to people there. Got to see Sippa, who's obsessed about me (usually it's the other way round, but I love her too).

We finally have fast internet connection on the home PC now, after several months of our 'super broadband' going at dial up speed. And during that, I've been giving the site another revamp into 'Version 6', including a new logo. I need to keep myself busy and not get side tracked into anything, I think I can just about endure another four and a half weeks here. And the weather's starting to get damn cold, so the sooner I can go the better...

26/10/07 - Only three days left till my interview, then I'll finally know what to do with myself. I called Victoria and found out that she and Reuben might be coming to England next month, and travelling back with me to Malaysia. That should certainly add some fun to my last couple of weeks here, but I hope I have no problems in getting everything organised, I'll only have three weeks to get my tickets and visas etc. Community of Praise had their tenth anniversary celebrations last weekend, I'll be looking forward to seeing their history book when I visit.

Also last weekend I went to Brighton with my brother to see Bowling for Soup and the Bloodhound Gang. I also met Scott Daniels there, but wherever Bowling For Soup go, he's not far behind, especially as he can get himself a backstage pass (he works in that kind of thing anyway). It was a good gig, and I had heard of Zebrahead before too. I'm glad I could take my camera in though, or else I wouldn't have enjoyed myself as much, like when I saw Motorhead last year, and I got some good photos along with it too.

Hopefully I'll be leaving SBE (the phone factory) soon, the job is just tiring, especially as we've had to work indoors at 28ºC most of this week (problem with air-con); but with the way some of the team leaders are treating me, it seems like they want me gone anyway. And finally, I bought an MP4 player (again, after a mysterious dissapearance in Malaysia) this week, and I've also ordered myself some business cards (see Photography), which include the new logo, so I can give out my e-contact details easier...
