April:

03/04/09 - Happy New Financial Year, and Happy Fourth Anniversary to Huckool Blog! Unfortunately I don't have anything personal to write for this 'anniversary edition' entry; no April fools jokes, no updates about Malaysia... After the riots in Central London this week, it seems this country is just sinking further and further into the gutter. If Labour are still in power after the next General Election, then there's no hope and no future for any who wants to live a decent and honest life; I'm glad I've got emigrating as my backup plan...

Something interesting I read about the G20 summit that took place this week is that they've put Costa Rica, Uruguay, Philipines and Malaysia on a blacklist after they refused to sign up to financial anti-secrecy rules. OK, I have little idea of what that means, but of those countries that were 'greylisted', it seems like the miniscule countries, such as Monaco, San Marino, and Switzerland, seem to be much stronger financially than the larger countries... I'll stop now before I accidentally mislead anyone...

10/04/09 - After a dismal 'anniversary' blog, I've got a lot for this week, so I'll get straight to it. After receiving a few days extra holiday from work, I set out in trying to reorganise my flights, but found out it'd cost me a minimum of £100 to do so. £100? That's robbery! Why should someone have to give half a week's salary for someone to do ten minutes of admin work? It's certainly another 'Love vs Money' test for me; are four precious, extra days in Malaysia really worth £100? I think they are...

I went to Palmers Green for Palm Sunday, with a nice parade up the street, and a good service. Atleast this peaceful parade of Tamil's in North London came before the riotus one in Central London (link). Being so strongly associated with Tamil people myself, I was shocked and embarrased by what happened in London. Yes, it's about time the world paid attention and did something to address the problems in Sri Lanka, but holding an illegal protest and waving the flags of the world's most infamous terrorist group, that of the Tamil Tigers (who are worse than Al Qaeda) is not the way to go about it.

Michael Parkinson has finally stated what the middle classes have been wanting to let out the past couple of months (link), that Jade Goody represented "all that's paltry and wretched about Britain today". Couldn't have put it better myself. I don't have a problem with Jade Goody herself, she's just another deprieved outer London girl; it's just the twisted way the media exploits her and other celebrities, making it seem like we should care more about the lives of people we've never met, rather than of those who actually live around us...

17/04/09 - There seems to be a mix of good and bad regarding this flight change for Malaysia (which is less than six weeks away!). After days of stress, wondering if four days was worth so much money, I had a look at my shifts, and realised if I could get one more day off, it would give me another four days off, totalling to an extra eight days, making my trip a total of three weeks! It could be easily explained with the use of a calendar, but basically I'm aiming for my trip to now be from May 26th to June 16th.

I did a lot of hours over the Easter weekend, nothing far from the usual though. I was quite dissapointed that all our Easter stuff sold though, I was hoping to buy a load of Creme Eggs on Reduce To Clear like I did a couple of years ago, but there were none left to reduce. Spent Easter Sunday with relatives (as I always do on Easter Sunday in the UK), which should have been a time to relax, but I don't think I've relaxed for a whole day in weeks. Some photos of the day are on the Photography site.

Meanwhile, in a country far far away, the Community of Praise churches celebrated their Easter, and I was delighted to find Pastor Paul had posted some photos from Taman Wahyu and Petaling Jaya's events onto Facebook (link), including the big church photographs. It was nice to see some new photos of everyone, though I was shocked to find Shakina, a girl from the Sunday School, had had her head completly shaved. I don't know if it was because of lice or Hindu ritual but I hope it grows back atleast a little when I come back, which is less than six weeks away!

24/04/09 - The deed is done, £200 for eight extra days in Malaysia, and only a month left to go! And the sooner the time comes, the better; boredom and frustration is starting to kick in, and I'm finding it hard to get certain things done, as I feel I'd just rather do them after my trip. My emotions are a little all over the place at the moment, but hopefully I'll be back on track during my trip, and hopefully I'll have some new and clearer directions in life.

I enjoyed the service at Palmers Green this week, which was a healing service by Pastor Robinson. I don't witness services like this very often at Palmers Green, so I took it all in, and made sure I took a lot of photographs too. It's nice that I've started using my camera again, having not taken a single photo since New Year, but there'll be plenty more photos to come next month. It's all nice a few of the kids there have been making a fuss over me, something I also greatly miss from Malaysia.

The civil war in Sri Lanka is supposedly coming to an end, but after reading this article (link) the other day, I have no idea who the bad guys are in all this. A lot of Tamil's are speaking out about how they are being tortured by the Sinhalese, whilst the Sri Lankan government are trying to deny reporters in to see what's really going on in the country. I struggle to make sense of it all, though none of it is really my business to know, but I just hope those that are innocent in all this stop becoming victims of it all.
