07/08/09 - I saw Slumdog Millionaire for the second time this past weekend, this time on Sky Box Office. It's nice to watch films a second time, as you follow the storyline first time around, then pick up on the smaller details second time round. After watching, it inspired me to look for a Tamil film I watched in 2007 on SouthForYou (when it was a free channel on Sky), Kannathil Muthamittal (A Peck On The Cheek). I was going to buy it off Amazon for about £10, then I saw the entire film for free on Google, so I'll have to find some time next week to watch it.

I called Victoria this past week, and the Taman Wahyu churches sixth anniversary is coming up later this month. I plan on giving a donation to the church, which Anita has been working hard to try and raise funds for. I'm also praying that Victoria and Reuben will be able to come to UK sometime soon, before Reuben, who's now back in Malaysia after studying in Mumbai, goes to Australia to further his studies.

14/08/09 - Had a nice, busy, social, three day weekend off work this past week. On Saturday I saw my long time friend, Scott (way back from my Namibia travelling days), my web design guru, who I haven't seen since I upgraded my site in October. He's heading off to Rwanda in a couple of weeks, so I gave him some water filter bottles, which I never really used in during my Asia travels; Africa can be a lot harder to find packaged water than overly-populated, overly-commercialised Asia.

I also saw my long time UK Tamil friend, Elizabeth, who I don't visit often enough, who's off to Germany next week for a wedding. I also met some of her Christian friends, who have a lot of admiration for my work in Malaysia. I really should try and take some more time to learn more Tamil with Elizabeth. I learnt a little bit whilst watching the Kannathil Muthamittal movie, which ironically has music composed by AR Rahman, who did the soundtrack for Slumdog Millionaire.

Also during my three day weekend, I visited the Palmers Green church, and went to a London show with my brother as a belated birthday present, seeing Avenue Q. But despite the three days rest, I strangely felt worse going back to work, and felt quite ill on Thursday, convieniently when I had a twelve hour shift to work through. I manage to last through it though, plus 8.5 hours today; got to keep the pay rolling.

21/08/09 - After a number of long years of defiance, I have finally given in; I finally personally own a camera phone! After several long years sticking with my black and white screened Nokia 3410 and Samsung SGH-A300, I'm now the proud owner of a pink Samsung SGH-U600. OK, I didn't actually buy one, my mother got sick of the touch sensitive keys (which explains why it's pink), whereas I'm pretty used to them, having tested hundreds of them whilst working for SBE in 2007.

I had my first formal attempt at photo editing this week, after my mother wanted herself edited out of a landscape photo from a holiday in San Francisco, and after realising a Roxio package I had had a Photo Suite, I went to work on it and did quite a good job of it (judge for yourself on the Photography site). I've also been keeping busy, doing large loads of web coding round the site. All of this editing is supposed to make adding new content onto the site easier, but the problem is, I'm not producing any new content to go on the site.

I saw Scott again this past week, who will be off on his travels to Africa soon. Despite how much I would have loved to have is web design expertise help me, it was just too nice a day outside, so we spent a few hours in Folkestone, chatting in the town and beach. Though I'm meeting with one old friend again, I may never see another, as Sam (from CELTA) has left Malaysia and is now back in Scotland. It's sad that he left, as it would have been nice to still have an English friend out there, amongst all my Tamil friends, but not everything is meant to last.

28/08/09 - God must have been kept busy this past Saturday, with Community of Praise Taman Wahyu's Sixth Anniversary, soon followed by a Bishop Ordination service for the Palmers Green church. The Palmers Green Tamil ministry had a large service at a bigger, nearby church, for the special service, where a lot of people (still mostly Tamil's) attended. It was a great service, with dinner at a local school after, then I stayed at Sathees' house for the night. Then I was invited for dinner round Kannan's house after the Sunday service, which finished a really great weekend.

Things are busy as usual in Taman Wahyu. Pastor Thomas Schmid, a Pastor from Australia, preached at their sixth anniversary service, and a lot of photos have been put online. Also he and Pastor Paul and been in Chennai, planting a new church there and in other parts of India. It's brilliant stuff that they're doing, and it's a shame I can't be there at the moment to help out, but hopefully I can't make up for it in getting some kind of sponsorship for them here.

In addition to the social weekend, I kept things going on Wednesday by being photographer at James Wilson's house party for the sixth straight year. They had friends there performing music and songs in the living room, but there aren't as many people there I know that attend now. And finally... a giant spider was in my bath (see the Photography album, if you dare...)!
