03/07/09 - Had an eventful weekend at the Palmers Green church this past week. I'm being kept busy there at the moment by doing the ushering (greeting people into the church), and did the reading for the English service for the second time (Matthew 7:13-29). Then after the service, we went to one families house as they were doing recordings for a DVD to commemorate Pastor Kumar becoming a bishop, and they even included an interview with me in it. I had my first driving lesson since coming back to the UK today, it being only my second. My instructor, Bob, could tell I had had a fair bit of practice whilst I was in Malaysia, and I was much more confident and progressed a lot more in my lessons (the extra lessons in Malaysia helped a lot). It's nice to get proper teaching and feedback, unlike in Malaysia, and I have two lessons scheduled for next week, so I'm hoping I get through my lessons as soon as possible. 10/07/09 - Attended a wrestling event (NCW UK) in Maidstone, Kent, this week, after a Facebook invite, and thought it would be a good opportunity for a photography shoot. Though there were no big names, I preferred this event to WWE last year as there's a lot more freedom and interaction for the crowd, though unfortunately the lighting wasn't so great there, so I didn't really get many impressive shots. Maybe a better camera and a better setting would help next time... My beloved second shoulder bag broke on Sunday, when the main strap decided to finally give way. My bag has slowly been falling apart since I almost got it stolen off of me a year ago (when my old camera wasn't so lucky), which left the strap in a bad state. I've now got an old headband holding it together, but as I only use my bag for church once a week, I think I'll wait till I next go to Malaysia in November before I get a new one. 17/07/09 - It was my brother's birthday on Sunday, so we celebrated with a pub lunch with his girlfriend, Karen, and her family, with some photos featured on the Photography site. Hours are becoming quite scarce at work at the moment, I've not done any 40+ hour weeks since coming back from Malaysia, and I even ended up having Tuesday off. I've suddenly become quite obsessed with finding fake pound coins at work (which is supposedly 1 in 80), but we don't really have a policy on them, so I can't really do much about it... 24/07/09 - Had a really fun weekend this past week, going on a beach trip to Great Yarmouth with Palmers Green and other Tamil Churches. It was raining when we arrived there, so we all took shelter under the pier, but once we started the baptism, the clouds and heavens opened, and the weather was good for the rest of the day, though the waves were quite rough during the baptism. It was a really nice day, though we didn't get back to London until 10pm, after the coach driver got lost. The other coach got back at 7.30pm. Now that all the schools have closed over the past couple of weeks, I've sent letters off to a few in the local area volunteering to be a teaching assistant. I did try applying with a few last year but sent my letters off far too late, but hopefully I'll get some responses this time around. Atleast it will fill my free time up with something more useful, and I should be able to juggle my evening job at Tesco with it quite easily. 31/07/09 - It was Karen's birthday (my brother's girlfriend) this past weekend, where they had a fancy dress party at a nightclub. I decided to turn it down, after originally accepting, as nightclubs aren't really my scene, but had I known my brother was going to be in drag on the night, I would never had agreed in the first place. Had a bad driving lesson earlier this week, which was my sixth so far in the UK. After spending a while mastering difficult maneuvers, I then forgot the basics and had a bad end to the lesson. I've been feeling quite bored and demotivated this past week, and have spent most my free time modifying the site again (which I'm now very pleased with). I called Anita and found out her daughter, Pathmini, was really sick with dengue, which is sad to hear. I also made a request to Pastor Paul to take some photos of the newly painted Sunday School (which I've featured on the Photography site), including the Tree Of Life, which has all the student's photos I had taken over the years at the church.
