05/03/10 - Met up with Charlotte and Isaac again over the past weekend, and went out for a Chinese to celebrate Charlotte's birthday, where we even had a Chinese-Malaysian waitress. I also attended their church in Brighton, which is extremely modern and developed (like a mini Hillsong church), and attracts quite an ethnic mix. Also spent the evening doing a bit of php work with Isaac, trying to make various little improvements to the site. My first big success of the week was finally having an interview for teaching work, with the VRH charity, to finally get myself some teaching work. I'll be receiving training at the end of the month, then should hopefully get some placements round Ashford in April, where I'll be giving one-to-one tuition to kids who are falling behind in their reading. And my second big success of the week was finally passing my driving theory test. I got 44/50 for the multiple choice (one above pass) and 50/75 for the hazard perception (six above pass). I even had some familiar clips from my last exam, including the clip I was disqualified on last time. I'm personally not too happy with some parts of the hazard perception, as some of the 'hazardous drivers' are ridiculously dangerous and inconsiderate, and the only way to score five marks sometimes is to click as soon as you see a car pull out of a junction... 12/03/10 - Been trying to get a lot of things done this past week. Had a few free driving lessons, as my father's had the week off, and I've been sorting through my room to clear some stuff out and to sell on ebay. I'm quite suprised how well some things are selling, as some are just random things in my room, such as a 2003 Comic Relief Red Nose, a McDonalds cooking apron, and even a Tesco Malaysia Bag For Life (which I bought in December, with the intention of selling it on ebay). Talking of Malaysia, I've booked my flights for my June trip and will be away for a whole three and a half weeks, which I'm delighted by; I'll be taking my first direct flight from London to KL, with Malaysian Airlines. The plane tickets were more expensive than usual, but this is likely due to the pound being so poor at the moment; £1 is now only RM5. But I was encouraged to book my flights soon, with British Airways likely to strike and bring chaos to air travel. Got allocated the rest of my 2010 holiday, and was given two weeks off at the start of November, so I'll get to spend Deepavali in Malaysia, which is when I wanted to attend last year. Unfortunately though, my holiday will only be two weeks, and I'll have to leave the day before Hari Raya, the biggest holiday on the Malaysian calendar. Well, Hari Raya is themed around returning to your hometown, and that'll be more than true come November, though I'll still be leaving my heart behind... 19/03/10 - Had a baptism service at Palmers Green on Sunday, which was a nice chance to do some more professional photography practice. Miraculously got ill on Tuesday, which was my day off (thanks to more overtime cuts), a day where I didn't even leave the house, but somehow picked up a little flu that I think has been going round, and it slowly got worse over the week, so bad that I had to take time off of work myself for being ill. Called Victoria in Malaysia for the first time in a while, and discussed my plans for my next visit, which will mainly revolve around me starting to apply for jobs whilst I'm there, which should be the first steps in getting me out of the UK within the next eight to twelve months... Lastly, something I just heard Davina McCall say on Sports Relief: 'A childhood is a human right, not a luxury, and many children around the world don't get a childhood.' Surely a good thing experienced by a minority must be a luxury... 26/03/10 - Spent the weekend with Stuart and Karen, where I got more pro-photography practice, this time outdoors, visiting a local park and lake, which can be seen on the Blog Album on HuckoolPhotography.Com. Also did my first mock driving exam this past week, and got 12 minors and 4 majors. My test isn't until May 10th, so hopefully I should have enough time to clean up those errors, and can hopefully pass before I go to Malaysia in June...
